Wind and Solar Energy
2010.02.05 01:02:07

I am really amazed with Wind and Solar energy because they are an economical power resource and does not produce air or water pollution. I think it is great!
Though the use of this sources are limited by the fact that they are not always available. Cloudy days reduce solar power and calm days reduce wind power.

But above all, Wind and Solar energy are very remarkable.

PAMATEC project in Masbate Philippines
2009.10.05 19:12:47

In the year 2003 we went on a holiday to The Philippines to visit some friends and family. We visited one of the most underdeveloped provences, called Masbate. I brought my laptop with a spare battery and other equipment with batteries, like flashlights and a drill etc. It was for giving it to the population. It was one of the best experiences I ever had. The contrast with the country I ive in, The Netherlands, was tremendous.

The small villages called barrangays had no electricity during the day. In the evening starting about  6 p.m. a generator was turned on and provided electricity for several hours in the barrangay. People had then e.g. the possiblity to watch T.V or charge batteries.

I will continue this blog when I have more time but what I like to mention right now is that years later I heard from one of my family members a solar energy project was started. The project is by now already finished in the barrangay that I visited and it was done by a company called PAMATEC which is the name for "Paris-Manila Technology Corporation", see http://www.pamatec.com.ph/ . What they did was a good example of a green power project in favour of especially poor people and of course the environment. According to the information I received the inhabitants are paying 100 pesos (€ 1,50) per mont per house hold. This is a very acceptable amount for the poor people living there. More information about the specific project can be found here: http://www.pamatec.com.ph/pres.html

Introducing GP4All.com
2009.10.03 00:53:23

Why making a website about green power in the way that this website is? What makes the existence of a website like this usefull and even necessary to some? Those 2 questions are in a nutshell what this website is about. The answers are longer than the questions.

The internet is changing fast and by the time that people read this blog things may have changed. As far as I know there are no specific websites at this moment where it is possible for people with interest in green power to express themselves in many ways. Even if there are I am happy to announce this website and I hope it will be succesfull.

This website is made with the goal to have a community that is willing to exchange experiences in the field of green power.
This may be e.g. if you are working on a green power project for a charity organisaton or for a company.
You may e.g. just have interest and never found a place on the internet to participate in discussions about green power.
These are just a few examples. Anything that you want to tell and may be of added value to others involved in any way with green power can be expressed on this website.

Why did we call the website also "4all" and not just e.g. GP.com or Greenpower.com?
We all know that the developed countries are financially better capable to deal with this issue compared to the developing countires. Promoting green power only will not be enough to solve the issue? We are all living on the same planet and polution doesn't stay within country borders. Somehow we will have to bring this message across to the developing countries also. It is in the interest of all of us to solve this issue and it connects somehow all the people in the world together. It is a collective responsibilty that we have to take and that makes it very interesting in many ways. We could say, finally the developed countries are growing up and taking responsibilty for the whole planet regarding this matter as they should!

Luckely Corporate Social Responsibilty (CSR) is gaining popularity and there are Western and other companies involved in e.g. solar energy projects in countries like e.g. The Philippines. Besides companies with a CSR strategy we also have of course the projects from the Governments, charity organizations and also individuals doing their part and helping people in poor countries with this matter.

CSR is a very important development lately that cannot be under estimated and will hopefully play a bigger part in the future. Besides the need of new solutions for the future another important reason is the power of publicity that makes companies move into that direction. It is always good PR to let the world know that your company has a CSR strategy. By making PR this way a company can gain goodwill from potential customers. Of course everything has to be seen in the right perspective. A company causing (in)directly  a lot of polution will have less sympathie from the public. The CO2 neutral term is a very good measurement in this case to see how involved a company is. To any company involved in green power projects I like to give a warm welcome to this website and I hope that workers will subscribe and participate.

We all know that green power is a hot issue lately. Al Gore made several movies about it and Bill Clinton is also putting attention on this issue. I am sure there are in this world many people having the same thoughts about our planet and the way we treat it. There are also many people involved in the process of changing the world to the better regarding this matter. Those people can hardly come forward like Al Gore or Bill Clinton can. Nevertheless, they are very important in the whole process of changing the way we treat our planet. We need people like Al Gore and Bill Clinton and we need the people involved in any aspect of promoting and making green power possible.

So, if you are involved in some green power project or just have interest and like to have your blog or start a discussion, just subscribe and go ahead. This website will be more usefull when the amount of subscribers are higher. I hope that togther with you we will be able to promote this website and have enough subscribers to make this website work.

Good luck and hope to see your blog on this website soon.
